My uncle is a freelance artist. After resigning from being a model/sculpture  artist for a big toy manufacturing company, he turned himself to family and do what he loves and enjoy slow movement of life. It is nice. right ?

Happy Easter = God Paaske!

Happy Easter & God Paaske to everyone ^ ^
Hello all,  After  we in Thailand have had a long vacation for Songkran or Thailand's New Year our friends in western countries in now celebrate Easter Vacation

Over here in Thailand, there is nothing much happened around Easter period (well, may be some snack/stuffs being imported for somebody who are far away from home ^ ^ hov! you can find some in "tops supermarket" or "villa market" etc.)

I just thinking about my life at this period back in 10 years, I was in Denmark as an exchange student. Easter or "Paaske" in Danish language were full of fun and "Hygge"

At that time we had nearly 10 days off from school, it was really nice to be with friends and other exchange students as well as our nice host family ^ ^

Uhhh,,now I really miss Danmark and everything there, almost 10 years I never been back there....

I miss lakkrids, rod polse, rugbrod and many things there and for sure can not forget Dansk Ol = Danish Beer! hov!

Har en god paaske

    Have a good easter

For Team "This for That Fabric Traders" on Etsy

Hi,
Here I took some pictures of the fabric that I now have in stock just in case that member from the team "This for That Fabric Traders"  on Etsy  or anybody that are interesting in the idea and would like to trade,  please feel free to contact me directly.

My first lot that I would like to show is Thai traditional fabric which is use widely in Thailand.
I believe that they called "Sarong" in English (Please see references per previous post)

On the left side-Sarong (for Men type)
Usually come in check print with various of colors. Made from Cotton.
On the right side -Sarong(for Women type)
This one came in nice blue color with flower print and gold lining. Made from cotton

The print is very nice, good for any project!  I have done a quilted bag and bobby pin from this fabric, please check for more photos in my previous post.
I also have tons of coconut shell buttons & wood button, I can share those as well.
I did not have lots of photo for "men type-sarong" (as seen in first picture) Actually I did not use it yet. I have those fabric in 2 yeards (at least) and believe that I can't use all of them. All fabric are already "Pre-Washed" with mild soap, you can make sure there is no excess color fading out and the fabric won't shrink after you done with the project. I have some which already cut in size of "Fat Quarter".

For those who are interesting in the fabric that I have, please feel free to contact.

Please note that I base in Thailand and the shipping time will be vary from a week or two with Thai post.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Thai New Year Festival-Songran/Water Festival in Thailand-April2011

 Hello All,
Today is 13 April 2011, It is Thai New Year Festival                   (Songran Festival )and am still in BKK (abv for Bangkok-Thailand) I did not visit my hometown in the south of Thailand as other Thai people do as this period we all have long vacation ^ ^ (well, normally starting from 2-3 days for Thai New Year but some people hold a week for vacation, oh how nice!)

Painted Elephant ^ ^ * How Cute !
The weather today was so...hot here, nearly all vendors close there shop. I am lucky enough to stock some food in the fridge. I found the electric pot sent by my mom are very useful now.

*************************
Thailand Water Festivals 2011 (Articles from http://thailand-festivals.com" "Songkran or Water Festival is Thai New Year captures the imagination of travellers for both its cultural and fun attributes; the latter being enthusiastic bouts of water splashing between friends and relatives. The main celebrations, in the capital, focus on bathing rites of replicas of revered Buddha images originating from various provinces in the North, South, East and central regions, interspersed with traditional food and dessert-making demonstrations and cultural performances.

An occasion for family reunions and temple visits, Songkran begins with the Rod Nam Dum Hua ritual which is officially called the National Elderly Day. This ritual involves young people pouring fragrant water into the elders’ palms as a sign of humility and to ask for their blessings. Another important ritual during this water festival is bathing the Buddha, where worshipers pour fragrant water over Buddha statues at the temples and at homes. People in Thailand also splash water at each other to symbolically wash off all misfortunes."

There are also important celebrations through the country at various tourist destinations:

• Old City Songkran Festival, Ayutthaya
• Songkran Festival, Chon Buri
• Amazing Songkran, Suphan Buri
• Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival, Samut Prakarn
• Songkran Festival, Chiang Mai
• Songkran Festival, Sukhothai
• Fantastic Northeast Songkran, Golden Shower Tree and ‘Kan’ Festival and Sticky Rice Road in Khon Kaen
• Grand Northeast Songkran Festival, Nong Khai
• Songkran Nakhon Phnom and Thai-Lao New Year Celebration
• Hat Yai Midnight Songkran, Songkhla
• Grand Songkran Festival and ‘Nang Dan’ Parade, Nakhon Si Thammarat
• Songkran on the Beach

My Quilted Bag for Donation! - Floods & Landslide in Thailand 2011

My Quilted Bag for Donation! - Floods & Landslide in Thailand 2011

Hi All!

I did not post anything for couple of days since I have been thinking about fund raising and donation to help our friends who suffered from flood and landslides in south of Thailand (Please refer to my previous post)

Yah! I  finally made it, hov!
Today I have done with my first quilted bag(or may be called wrist-let ??) and will list up to my shop in Etsy.
OK, let's see it together!

This one came in nice blue color with flower print and gold lining.  I have bought this cotton fabric sometimes ago. Actually this kind of fabric is widely used in Thailand in the old day especially in the southern part of Thailand.

<--This is what I mentioned, this kind of fabric used as  skirt, sometimes used when they go shower and sometimes can develop to be the baby's crib ^ ^*  Anyway, Thai people still use them nowadays.
 I believe this kind of fabric called "Sarong" in English. I have found the definition per below;

 N. sarong
def:[เครื่องนุ่งของผู้หญิง ซึ่งใช้ผืนผ้าเย็บริมด้านข้างให้ติดกัน]
syn:[ผ้านุ่ง, โสร่ง, ผ้าซิ่น]
(Reference from http://th.oldict.com)

 *******************************************
OK, let's come back to my quilted bag!

<-- I used 3 layers (top, batterand backing) then starting quilting.
See! my backing in light blue print ^ ^ *

I attached my little signature inside.-->

Then + little "D-loop (for hanging)

(don't pay attention to the background- it is my "this and that" lists + recipe  hehe)

Stitch by stitch!  alllll hand made   ^  ^ "

Stitch by stitch!  from outside of the bag.

Then sew the hanger (yes, by hands)
<--FIRST TRIAL! lucky enough with no error

With Paper  bag Wrap  and hand stamp (Hand Made by me) Plus little mul paper card

Thank You for visiting my blog!

(am kinda sleepy and actually am not good at describe things, anyway those picture might help me ^  ^. )
